Spread Holiday cheer with Santa and his reindeer for the annual Ketchum Tree Lighting. Festivities include free treats and hot chocolate (and hot toddies for purchase); Christmas carolers; real, live reindeer; a grand entrance by Santa; photo opportunities; firepits; and Holiday lighting (of course!). Don't forget your wish lists and letters for Santa. The Community Library Book Club is hosted the first Wednesday of every other month and led by a diverse range of library staff. Books cover all genres from new fiction to classics to nonfiction, young adult, graphic novels, and everything in between. December 2024's selection is "Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones" by James Clear. The discussion will be led by communications manager Kyla Merwin. An intimate journey into the sketchbook world and how drawing can offer a moment of stillness and peace within an often chaotic world. Led by artist Leslie Rego. Thursdays, December 5-19 and January 16-23 (five Thursdays). Registration required. This workshop series offers a welcoming and supportive space for people interested in drawing the natural world. The focus will be on nature journaling. Prompts will be offered as well as guidance. Each session we will jump down a “rabbit hole” and study in depth one plant or landscape element or learn about different brushes, paints, papers, and other art supplies. A list of recommended supplies will be sent to registered participants. Leslie Rego has drawn in journals for years. She carries sketchbooks and paints with her while enjoying the national forest and will take time to draw and paint landscapes and flowers on her many hikes. Leslie wrote the "Sketchbook Hiking" article in The Weekly Sun for many years. She has artwork in private collections, The Sun Valley Lodge and around the world.

Join us for a program with Judith Kindler, who will expertly guide us and share insider knowledge in the area of fine art collecting that is both exciting and valuable in a world that often times is complex and intimidating to approach. Judith Kindler is a well-respected American artist and past Seattle gallery owner with valuable insights into the art world. She has over 50 years experience in the arts including sitting on the boards of Pratt Fine Arts, Poncho, Cornish College of Arts and The National Home Furnishings Board. She has exhibited her own work through multiple galleries and museums across the U.S., gaining a broad knowledge of the business of art. In addition she has had more than seven books published on her art.

Learn how to keep your family out of court and conflict when the Hailey Public Library hosts local attorney Tatyana Gray and financial advisor Brayden Olson for free talk on estate and financial planning. The engaging, scenario-based presentation is designed to help protect loved ones and avoid unnecessary legal complications. Using relatable stories, including the fictional Bliss family, Tatyana and Brayden will illustrate the importance of a comprehensive estate and financial plan. COMMUNITY PROGRAM: Afternoon Art—Ketchum

Play, create, discover, and have fun! Afternoon Art is a free drop-in opportunity for community members of all ages to explore concepts from the Museum's current exhibition and create works of art. Families and friends are encouraged to communicate, reflect, and produce as artists together. Perfect for art lovers, curious minds, and anyone seeking inspiration. Projects will vary. Age & Ability: all ages, families encouraged to attend together Ketchum Afternoon Art runs from 1:30–4:30pm at the Sun Valley Museum of Art. Afternoon Art is offered in Ketchum on the first Friday of each month and in Hailey on the second Friday from 1:30-4:30pm and are recommended for families with children of all ages.
