BODYTRAFFIC is an international, renowned forward-thinking dance company proudly hailing from Los Angeles. Since its founding in 2007 by Artistic Director Tina Finkelman Berkett, the Company has held steady to its mission to champion contemporary dance, educate audiences, present new voices, question the future, and incite positive change. Its goal is simple: get the world moving. BODYTRAFFIC has performed for sold-out audiences at prestigious theaters and festivals around the world, in more than 30 American states and 20 countries. A forward-thinking Company, BODYTRAFFIC is not one driven by a single choreographic voice. It’s an incubator for new voices and continues to move the needle of what dance can and cannot be – elevating it beyond an art form to a way of thinking, being, and doing. “The Two Swans: Vladimir/Volodymyr” Play

Blaine County will get to experience an exceptional video of a recent New York City production, the essential play about the Ukrainian - Russian War.  ‘The Two Swans” will be showing at the Argyros Theater ONE PERFORMANCE ONLY, August 22, 2023. "The Two Swans:Vladimir/Volodymyr” is a play in 2 acts. Not only a historical drama it is wryly satirical as it traces the Russian-Ukrainian War through the backgrounds of the two principles involved, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky. A couple of their own shortened speeches becomes a means of tracing how the conflict unfolded. It becomes a gem of inspired writing based on thorough research. Many little-known facts will be revealed as the compelling character development of the 12 roles tightens its grip. The subject matter is frequently lightened with humor in this charismatic theater work. Benefit Screening of Oscar-Winner “The Whale”

Catch a very special screening of A24's Academy Award-Winning film "The Whale" on August 29, 2023 at 5:30 PM at The Argyros Performing Arts Center in Ketchum, ID to benefit Sun Valley Playwright’s Residency. The evening includes a pre-screening reception and a post-screening conversation with playwright, screenwriter, MacArthur “Genius” Fellow, and Idaho-native Samuel D. Hunter. The Q&A will be moderated by Sun Valley Playwright’s Residency Artistic Director John Baker. Hunter and Baker worked closely together on Hunter’s acclaimed play "The Whale," which Hunter later adapted for the screen. Following its premiere at the 2022 Venice Film Festival, the Darren Aronofsky film was nominated for three Academy Awards and won two. Brendan Fraser won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of a reclusive English teacher who attempts to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter. Pulitzer Prize winner & Tony Award nominee Martyna Majok returns to Ketchum with Off Broadway director Caitlin Sullivan to workshop a brand new play that Martyna has been writing with the support of Sun Valley Playwright's Residency. On September 27 at 5:30 PM, Martyna & Caitlin will participate in a special Q&A at The Argyros Performing Arts Center. Moderated by Sun Valley Playwright’s Residency Artistic Director John Baker, Martyna and Caitlin will speak about their work and collaboration before taking questions from the audience. Sun Valley Playwright’s Residency is a non-profit organization that gives playwrights time and resources to write in an inspired Idaho setting and provides the local community events that offer insight into writers’ creative processes. We foster new relationships between theatremakers and Idaho’s Wood River Valley community and fuel the American theatre with invigorating new plays that speak to our collective humanity. Annually, we work with one playwright to foster a new play from idea to full draft, and we produce events centered on this playwright, their existing plays, and the new play they are writing. The playwright begins the residency with a month-long stay at the historic Ernest and Mary Hemingway House, which is owned and operated by The Community Library. A Conversation with Rajiv Joseph

Pulitzer Prize finalist and two-time Obie Award winner Rajiv Joseph will be in conversation with Martha Williams, The Community Library’s Programs and Education Director. Joseph is the third annual Sun Valley Playwright's Resident, a residency that fosters new relationships between theatremakers and Idaho’s Wood River Valley community and offers creative support to foster a new project over the course of a year. The residency is hosted at The Community Library's historic Ernest and Mary Hemingway House, and programs are presented in partnership with SVPR, the Library, and The Argyros Performing Arts Center. During his residency, a reading of Joseph’s 2009 play "Gruesome Playground Injuries" will also be read at The Argyros on October 14th. Rajiv Joseph’s play "Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo" was a 2010 Pulitzer Prize finalist for Drama and also awarded a grant for Outstanding New American Play by the National Endowment for the Arts. He has twice won the Obie Award for Best New American Play, first in 2016 with "Guards at the Taj" (also a 2016 Lortel Winner for Best Play) and then in 2018 with "Describe the Night."
