This film will be introduced by Leo Arriwite. The second film, "In Good Faith," (2018) is a documentary that illuminates the history of the unratified treaty between the U.S. Government and the Lemhi Shoshone people. Shot in Idaho and Montana, 'In Good Faith' reveals new discoveries about a Native American tribe, their unratified treaty with the United States and a historical revelation that could change the history of southwestern Montana. OPENING NIGHT RECEPTION for CUBBY WEST SPAIN & ANSLEY WEST RIVERS Exhibition

Hemmings Gallery

A joint show by two sisters who are inspired by the beauty and importance of preserving wilderness areas. Cubby West Spain is a painter who uses line and shape to find and define forms in the landscape. Working with gouache, watercolor, acrylic and oils, Spain paints subjects such as western landscapes and the American buffalo employing her distinct use of pattern and intentional brush strokes. Ansley West Rivers is an artist whose photographic practice focuses on the intersection of landscape and humanity. For the past ten years, Rivers has been photographing American rivers including her own watershed in Idaho’s Teton Valley. Using historical photographic techniques and a large format film camera, she layers several shots on each piece of film with masking made in camera to create an expansion on the singular landscape image.

Gallery Walk: Flavia’s Junquiera – The Absurd and the Grace

Gilman Contemporary

Brazilian artist Flávia Junquiera’s poetic photographs pay homage to monumental architecture and the ephemeral essence of childhood. Dreamlike and playful, Junquiera creates carefully staged site-specific installations and then captures them on film. Imagine grand theaters filled with balloons, a lone and riderless carousel horse intruding upon an ornate library, balloons and bubbles littering the grounds and floating above Rio de Janeiro’s Parque Lage. Infused with a sense of wonder, Junquiera captures a nostalgic vision that dwells in the magical realm of childhood. Each photograph not only commemorates an installation but also celebrates the lightness and brightness of the unexpected.
