Neighborly Spanish is a free, 8-week class taught on Mondays from noon-1:30 PM by retired local Spanish teacher Jim King. The class will offer basic Spanish language skills seasoned with a little history and culture. Enrollment limited to 20. Classes are on Mondays, starting January 22 through March 18. A Forest Service ranger meets interested guests at the Bald Mountain Map near Sun Valley’s Lookout Restaurant. The tour lasts a pleasant hour while skiing the mountain making three stops for the ranger to give his talk. Topics covered include a wealth of interesting information about local history, geography, geology, the Bald Mountain Stewardship program, expansion plans and local public lands.

Footlight Dance Company presents its annual school enrichment tour throughout Blaine County, providing shows to most Blaine County school students during a 2 week period. FREE show open to the public, Wednesday, January 31, 9:30 am. With the use of concert dance forms: ballet, modern, jazz, tap and hip hop this performance will inspire students to see winter sports in a new way – thru the dance arts. “WATER IS LIFE – Treat it Right” – a collaboration of dance styles, bringing awareness to need to protect our water in Idaho, the U.S. and world. Tours meet at 9:30am in the Mountain View Room at River Run Lodge and are guided by one of the friendly members of our Mountain Guest Services team (yellow coats). They will guide you around Bald Mountain’s vast terrain, share where the best skiing and riding is and wow you with some amazing historical facts about Sun Valley. Tours are open for all ski levels.

To kick off the 2024 community-wide Winter Read of "The Great Gatsby," join us for an evening with Maureen Corrigan, book critic and author of "So We Read On: How the Great Gatsby Came to Be and Why It Endures." Registration is required. A book signing will follow. This event will also be livestreamed, and a recording will be available to view through March 15. Maureen Corrigan is America’s most trusted and beloved book critic. Her distinctive voice is at once incisive and accessible, like a well-read friend who always sends you home with a good book to read. For more than twenty years Maureen has been the book critic for NPR’s "Fresh Air."
