WORKSHOP: Collagraph Printing

SVMoA Hailey Classroom

In this 2-day printmaking workshop, participants will spend the first day making printing plates using various substances and surfaces, such as fabric, bubble wrap, wallpaper, leaves, and more. On day two, ink up and begin printing, either by press or hand. Each time your plate is inked will create a unique monoprint, revealing varying tones, textures, and values of color. SVMoA will provide the necessary materials (included in enrollment cost). Age & ability: 16 and older, beginners welcome! THIS 2-DAY WORKSHOP TAKES PLACE SAT, MAY 13 & 20, 10AM–2PM. $200 member / $225 nonmember

Warfield Distillery & Brewery is partnering with Unega Mountain Dog Rescue! Meet & greet with Unega and a few of their furriest friends. Proceeds from our special event beer and cocktail will directly benefit Unega’s efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, socialize, and home Great Pyrenees & Akbash livestock dogs. Join us downstairs in the tasting room at Warfield to drink some beers and show love to some Pyrs!

Living with Alzheimer’s – Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia

Hailey Public Library and the Greater Idaho Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will host Dr. Carol Stephens, Psy.D. for Living with Alzheimer’s Part 2 on Tuesday, May 23, from noon – 1:00 PM. A disease of the brain, Alzheimer’s causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Join us to learn about disease stages, risk factors and current research and treatments available to address some symptoms. Held at Town Center West.

WRTC Volunteer Work Party

Where: Hidden Valley Trail, meeting at project site. When: Tuesday, May 23rd 5:15 PM - 7:30 PM Difficulty: Moderately demanding due to trail in Project Description: Installing drains, general maintenance What to bring/wear: Closed toe/ankle supporting shoes and pants will be required. We recommend bringing your own eye protection/sunglasses, work gloves and sunscreen. A small pack is nice to have for water, layers and a snack. No dogs please. What we will provide: Tools, required PPE available for use: hard hats, eye protection, gloves etc. Bike helmets are not an appropriate substitute. RSVP: Yes please! RSVP HERE Directions: It is one mile in from the start of the trail, off of Bullion Gulch Road. From the low start of the trail off Bullion Gulch Road, travel up the trail for 0.4 miles to an intersection. Turn right onto the loop portion of the Hidden Valley Trail and travel an additional 0.8 miles to the work site. We will meet volunteers at the project site, so plan according to your mode of transportation. GPS 43.48557, -114.39941 You can bike, hike, run, ride your zebra…whatever you’d like to get to the work site. Tools will be at the work site.

The Community Library

Judy Zimmer leads Paint Club for tweens and teens. Come join us in The Children's Library where we'll all make a creation on canvas. Paint club is open to tweens and teens ages 9+ who can manage the project alone. All supplies are provided. Space is VERY limited so sign-up is required. Please be sure you can make the commitment to attend as we turn many away from this popular offering. Join Sara Pettit (Sarita) from 5:15-6:00 p.m. each Thursday in April and May for this early evening conversational time, intended for intermediate-and-above Spanish language learners. Come sharpen your proficiency and comfort with the language by listening, speaking, sharing your opinion and narrating. Drop-in, no registration required.

SVFF Monthly Movies : Mending the Line

The story follows a young soldier (Sinqua Walls), who has just returned home after being wounded in Afghanistan on his last patrol. His doctor (Patricia Heaton) at the VA hospital introduces him to a Vietnam War veteran (Brian Cox), who has been treated at the facility for decades, and teaches him to fly fish, hoping it will help the young man deal with his physical and emotional trauma.
