After careful consideration of the weather forecast indicating unusually low temperatures throughout the weekend, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Ballet Sun Valley Festival performances scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

This decision was reached in close collaboration with Pacific Northwest Ballet and our artistic and production teams. Ultimately, the forecasted conditions do not allow the artists to perform safely and in accordance with the professional standards and union guidelines that protect their health and wellbeing.

We know this news is disappointing. While outdoor performances are one of the unique joys of the Ballet Sun Valley Festival, they also come with circumstances beyond anyone’s control. The artists, staff, volunteers, and Board have dedicated countless hours to preparing for this weekend.

While weather-related cancellations are rare, they are an inherent risk of presenting world-class ballet in one of the country’s most extraordinary outdoor settings. The safety of the artists, the integrity of the performances, and audience experience remain our highest priorities.

We can’t wait to welcome this superb company back to Sun Valley in the future!
