Written by Pulitzer Prizer-Winner Martyna Majok Directed by MacArthur “Genius Grant” Fellow Samuel D. Hunter Featuring David Janseki, Nick Sacks & Aly Wepplo At a bus stop in a run-down New Jersey town, Darja, a Polish immigrant cleaning lady, is done talking about feelings; it’s time to talk money. One of the best live acts to come out of Ireland in recent years, the award-winning We Banjo 3 combines supergroup credentials with a breathtaking command of the emotive power of fiddle, guitar, mandolin and banjo. Any single member of this group could a electrify a venue with a solo performance, but together with their passionate lead vocalist (who sounds like a young Springsteen adopted by The Chieftains), the result is truly unforgettable. These two sets of brothers write and perform with emotion, incalculable brio and inventiveness, power, subtlety and intelligence. SVMoA Performing Arts Residency and Concert Series: Portland Cello Project’s “Purple Reign”

When: April 9, 2022 @ 7:30 pm
Where: Argyros Performing Arts Center, 120 Main St S, Ketchum, ID 83340, USA

What started in 2006 as a one-off with a group of nine cellists onstage at Portland’s Doug Fir Lounge has evolved into a nationally recognized performing, recording and educational group with a revolving cast of cellists. Portland Cello Project (PCP) has developed a three-part philosophy that has mostly remained unchanged over the years: Bring the cello places you wouldn’t normally see it; perform music on the cello you wouldn’t normally associate with the instrument alongside music from the Western Classical Tradition; and build bridges between different musical communities through education, community outreach and collaboration with myriad artists. And now PCP turns the evening purple, blending their deep textures with the unique harmonic landscape of the artistic power of Prince. Joined by musicians who have worked with Prince, such as Saeeda Wright and Tyrone Hendrix, PCP will perform a lively evening of diversely curated music that influenced – or was influenced by – The Purple One. PCP’s outreach activities in Wood River Valley schools are supported, in part, with funds provided by the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF), the Idaho Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. All attendees at SVMoA performances and residency activities must wear …
