We are excited to invite you to join the local Wood River Valley chapter of the reGEN Film Club.
reGEN Media is the first and only Indigenous-owned and female-led regenerative media studio and their North American film club program uses films to enrich and strengthen local communities.
reGEN Film Club is a series of curated films that will give you an opportunity to watch, digest, and discuss films through the lens of different perspectives.
Expect to meet or deepen your relationship to both the film and Club community through these 75-minute discussions. Think of it like a book club, but for movies!
Discover hidden indie film gems and hear perspectives and commentaries from our brilliant reGEN filmmakers who will expand your minds and hearts as you investigate your own perspectives and experiences of the films in your comunity.
How it works:
-Our curators – made up of our reGEN filmmakers – will each select a film to present to you during the course of a year (October 2023 – July 2024)
-You can watch the selected film online at your convenience (we will provide information as to where you can find it).
-We will then have an in-person 75-minute discussion group centered around each of the films (6 in all)
What to expect during our discussion:
-We’ll kick things off with opening remarks from the reGEN filmmaker who selected the film – sharing their perspective on the film and some “insider baseball” commentary on how they watch the film as a fellow filmmaker
-From there, we’ll randomly assign breakout groups, so you’ll get a chance to get to know and hear from a wide variety of viewpoints.
-We will provide each group with a series of questions that will help guide your group’s discussion of the film.
-We will then bring the groups back together for a larger discussion on an additional thought-provoking question.
-Finally, we’ll wrap with our collective rating of the film, our own thumbs up or rotten tomatoes, so to speak.
Discussion dates for the year:
Film club members will watch the assigned films on their own schedules ahead of time.
We will then meet in-person in the Wood River Valley for 75-minute discussions of the films.
Discussion gatherings will always be from 6-7:15pm on the following Monday evenings:
November 6, 2023
December 4, 2023
January 22, 2024
March 25, 2024
June 17, 2024
July 29, 2024
