UNCHARTED: Artists as Wayfinders

Uncharted: Artists as Wayfinders is the first exhibition in a three-part series that explores journeys past, present, and future through the lenses of mapping, mending, and memory. Focusing on journeys to and within the Americas, the series engages with the current national discourse and asks: How have migration stories shaped our past and present? How might future population shifts unfold in response to climate change and unexpected events such as pandemics?

Each of the artists in Uncharted uses maps, borders, changing landscapes, and navigation as tools for understanding the movement of people and other living things. Internationally known artist Tiffany Chung has created new work for the exhibition that explores the history of the spice trade along the Silk Road and the food traditions of refugees from Silk Road countries now resettled in Boise.
