Sun Valley Museum of Art is pleased to partner with The Community Library in presenting a conversation with Alan Pesky and Claudia Aulum, co-authors of More to Life Than More: A Memoir of Misunderstanding, Loss, and Learning. The book tells of Alan’s son, Lee, who died of brain cancer at the age of thirty, launching Alan into a period of grief and the creation of a learning center supporting those with learning disabilities in his son’s name. A book signing with Chapter One will follow. A portion of book sale proceeds benefit the Lee Pesky Learning Center.
Alan Pesky is the founder of Lee Pesky Learning Center, established in 1997 and actively engaged in training the next generation of practitioners in special education and boosting early childhood literacy in the state. Alan was also one of the founding partners of Scali, McCabe, Sloves, an international advertising agency from which he retired in 1983. He and his wife, Wendy, are ardent supporters of education and humanitarian causes and were honored in 2005 as Outstanding Philanthropists of the Year in Idaho. Alan has served as a trustee of his alma maters, The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and Lafayette College.
Claudia Aulum is a first-generation American and graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. Her writing is informed by wide-ranging professional experiences, travel and studies, as well as a love of language. Claudia’s work explores divisions and barriers that affect how we relate to one another.
As of August 9, The Community Library is requiring masks in all of its public spaces. Given the changing recommendations around COVID-19, please check the Library’s website closer to the event date for the most current event guidelines.
