Friesen+Lantz Fine Art’s first anniversary celebration will feature new work from environmentally conscious artist Steve Jensen. Based in Seattle WA, Jensen’s work offers glimpses into our cultural past through found objects, recycled materials, and a deep desire to take what we discard today and make it sacred and beautiful for tomorrow.

Descended from a long line of Norwegian fishermen, Jensen uses the same boat making tools of his forefathers when creating his work. His sculptures appear ageless, as if dredged from unknown depths instead of being made of recycled glass, metal and found objects. “I have been using recycled materials for over 35 years. I pick steel off the beach. I love finding salvaged boat materials, especially portholes and sailboat parts. It’s always exciting to figure out how to make something beautiful out of something that was discarded.”

Cultivating work that has a deeper meaning, whether by raising awareness of our environmental impact or celebrating the interconnectedness of the human condition, Friesen+Lantz vows to continue bringing insightful, personal, and powerful art to Sun Valley.
