In 1987, New York City playwright John Patrick Shanley (Pulitzer Prize for “Doubt”) headed west to Hollywood. The result was one of the most iconic comedies of all time – “Moonstruck”. Three years later, his film “Joe Versus The Volcano”, starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, was an historic flop. Hell hath no fury like a funny, insightful, playwright scorned… so Shanley responded with an hysterical dark take on Hollywood and the forces at work making movies, “Four Dogs and a Bone”. As The New York Times said “If you’re going to write a satire about the movie business at this very late date, it had better be very, very funny. In the case of ‘Four Dogs and a Bone’, that criterion is most abundantly met.”

On the evening of Saturday, August 6th, Sawtooth Productions will present a reading of the one act comedy at 7pm on the patio at St. Thomas Church. Running time is 75 mins and cookies & wine will be served. Donations accepted. The New York Post stated “Four Dogs and a Bone is the funniest play in town, and the neatest, if kinda affectionate, evisceration of that ‘ol dream factory you will encounter in years”… so basically, you shouldn’t miss this production!

The cast features Matt Gorby, Lila Claghorn, Kagen Albright & Aubrey Lace Taylor. The reading is directed by Jon Kane.

The evening will open with a touching reading from Courtney Loving of “Crafty” by Paul Rudnick.
