Chihuly Blanket Cyliders Exhibit @ The Community Library

The Foyer of Community Library In Ketchum is housing 21 exquisite art glass cylinders from renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly. With this extraordinary body of work, Chihuly aims to convey his appreciation and respect for the histories, cultures, and arts of the Indigenous tribes of North America, and to recognize the influence of Native cultures on contemporary arts.

The Philip Glass Ensemble (PGE) comprises the principal performers of the music of Philip Glass. In 1968, Glass founded the PGE in New York City as a laboratory for his music. Its purpose was to develop a performance practice to meet the unprecedented technical and artistic demands of his compositions. In pioneering this approach, the PGE became a creative wellspring for Glass, and its members remain inimitable interpreters of his work.

Her debut story collection, and this year’s community read, “Sabrina & Corina,” made waves in the literary community for its honest, provocative look at life in the American West for women of Latina and Indigenous descent. The stories serve as powerful meditations on friendships, identity, mothers and daughters, and the deep-rooted truths of our homelands. Register online, as space is limited. The event will also be streamed on Vimeo. The Winter Read is an annual collaboration between The Community Library in Ketchum, Hailey Public Library, Bellevue Public Library, and the Stanley Community Library. Events are held January-March. Join us for speakers, films, discussions, exhibits and more throughout the valleys.

The Papoose Club first started selling plants on vacant lots in Ketchum back in 1961. Initially volunteers trucked plants up from afar, but with the growing popularity of the event, Papoose Club began to collaborate with local gardening businesses. Webb Garden Centers has been partnering with the Papoose Club for many years now. Webb graciously donates a portion of their sales during the event to the Club. The Plant Extravaganza is usually held the first weekend in June.
