SNOW SHOW: Winter Now

Sun Valley Museum of Art

Coinciding with the 2025 World Cup Alpine Championships in Sun Valley, SNOW SHOW: Winter Now explores the past, present, and future of winter and snow sport through the photographic and video work of six contemporary artists. The exhibition invites viewers to consider the ways that we are experiencing winter’s future now, from the impacts of climate change to a world of winter sport that embraces diversity. The exhibition includes artwork by three nationally known, Los Angeles-based artists (Catherine Opie, Rob Reynolds, and Mungo Thomson) in addition to two new bodies of work created with support from SVMoA by artists Sofía Jaramillo and Ryan Bonilla.

BEN STEELE – A DAY IN THE SUN

Gilman Contemporary

Gilman Contemporary presents A DAY IN THE SUN, recent paintings by Ben Steele whose diverse style brilliantly bridges art history and contemporary culture. Steele draws inspiration from the luminaries of modern art, including Roy Lichtenstein, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Gustav Klimt, and others. His paintings demonstrate technical precision while intertwining elements of irony, nostalgia, and subtle humor. Steele cleverly integrates iconic images into his pieces, offering a fresh perspective on the past.

Event Series Nature Journaling

Nature Journaling

The Community Library

An intimate journey into the sketchbook world and how drawing can offer a moment of stillness and peace within an often chaotic world. Led by artist Leslie Rego. Thursdays, February 27 - March 27, 2025 (five Thursdays). Registration required. This workshop series offers a welcoming and supportive space for people interested in drawing the natural world. The focus will be on nature journaling. Prompts will be offered as well as guidance. Each session we will jump down a “rabbit hole” and study in depth one plant or landscape element or learn about different brushes, paints, papers, and other art supplies. A list of recommended supplies will be sent to registered participants. Leslie Rego has drawn in journals for years. She carries sketchbooks and paints with her while enjoying the national forest and will take time to draw and paint landscapes and flowers on her many hikes. Leslie wrote the "Sketchbook Hiking" article in The Weekly Sun for many years. She has artwork in private collections, The Sun Valley Lodge and around the world.
