Costa Rican-American Soprano Teresa Castillo has been hailed by the San Francisco Gate as a “standout, bringing power and florid elegance,” and by Opera News for exhibiting “a clean, concentrated sound, and a lovely, intelligent musicianship.” Ms. Castillo's training includes participation in San Francisco Opera's prestigious Merola program and as a Resident Principal Artist with Teatro Nuovo and a member of the Virginia Opera Herndon Emerging Artists program. Tenor Jordan Weatherston Pitts has been recognized for his "heroic", "passionate" and "bewitching" performances both on the operatic stage, as well as in concert. Each year SVGA hosts multiple gallery walks (exhibition openings for all SVGA galleries), which are eagerly anticipated and free to the public. Locals and visitors alike take in thought-provoking exhibitions of newly installed art, enjoy wine, mingle with friends, and often meet the artists. Teens are invited to Teen Art Night, a free art-making program by and for teens. Work with SVMoA Staff and Teen Interns to create and learn new techniques with art projects inspired by SVMoA's current exhibition. All free and geared toward young people ages 14-20. Pre-registration encouraged, drop-ins welcome No experience necessary. Open to all teenagers of any experience and interest levels, ages 12–18. Teen Night takes place from 5:30–7pm. Hosted by local celebrity Jacq Frances, the evening will showcase the abundance of Wood River Valley talent, featuring Honky Tonk Sue, James "Taco" Tautkus, Andrew Alburger, Cade Johnson, Taylor James Lenane, Daniela Stokes, Noah Koski, and many more. Wood River Extreme Ski Joring

Wood River Extreme Skijoring

Join us February 15 & 16 for Wood River Extreme Skijoring! Produced by the Wood Extreme Ski Joring Association (WRESJA), the event features cowboys with their fast horses racing with brave skiers and snowboarders and promises a weekend of fast-action fun that the whole family will enjoy. Ski Joring is a winter sport in which a person on skis is pulled by a horse, a dog or a motor vehicle. It is derived from the Norwegian word skikjøring, meaning “ski driving”. In the Wood River Valley horses are used. The WRESJA races will take place at 81 Browning Lane in Bellevue on Saturday, February 15 and Sunday, February 16, starting at 12noon each day.  There is an admission fee of $10 per spectator, with children 12 and under free. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs but dogs are not allowed. This family-friendly weekend event will also feature concessions at the races, a raffle to support a local area non-profit and evening events that include a pre-race party and team check-in on Friday night, 6:00 p.m. at Mahoney’s Bar & Grill and a team auction and party on Saturday night, 6:00 p.m. at Cutthroat Club in Bellevue. Fun, Free Nordic Race for Kids! This cross-country event is open to youth aged 3-13 who may race in skate or classic disciplines. This free community event put on by Papoose Club volunteers in partnership with the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s Nordic ski program and the Blaine County Recreation District. The Nordic Cup has been held in the Wood River Valley since 2006. Depending on snow conditions the event is held either in Quigley Canyon in Hailey or Sun Valley Nordic center. VOLUNTEER HERE
