Are you ready to celebrate the start of the ski season with a rollicking musical romantic comedy that takes place in 1950s Sun Valley? Playboy bosses, matchmakers, handsome bandleaders, love triangles, a mid-night ski carnival and water spectacle, even a song about “choo choo chooing” to Idaho. Brap Ski 4 celebrates the 2 funnest sports on planet earth: brappin' and skiin' “Karl Fostvedt has been dropping “Brap Ski” films for almost half a decade. In that time, he’s come up with some down-right wild ideas. Last year, the crew skied through the Southern Utah desert, painting silky turns and finding airs amongst the red rock walls. This year, they (somehow) stepped it up by returning to old stomping grounds and finding new spots, too. Along with Thayne Rich, Addie and Toby Rafford, McRae Williams and more, Fostvedt cooked up a few of the best segments we’ve seen so far this fall. “Undertow”: An Idaho-Inspired Dance

The Community Library

Join The Community Library for a conversation with Dana Genshaft, a distinguished figure in the dance world, renowned for her multifaceted career as a dancer, choreographer, and educator. Genshaft was a Writer-in-Residence at the Hemingway House with The Community Library in June 2024, in partnership with Ballet Sun Valley (BSV). During her time in residency, she began developing a new piece for BSV: "Undertow," which was performed at the company's October performance at The Argyros with San Francisco Ballet Pre-Professional Dancers. Genshaft will be in conversation with the library's executive director, Jenny Emery Davidson, about her residency, how she begins to choreograph a new piece, and working with dancers to bring the vision to the stage. They'll also share a recording of the October performance of Undertow (9 minutes) during their conversation.

As the holidays approach, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) wants to have a perfect family Christmas, so he pesters his wife, Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo), and children, as he tries to make sure everything is in line, including the tree and house decorations. Introduction to Avalanches Field Day

Sawtooth NRA HQ & Visitor Center

Join the Friends of the Sawtooth Avalanche Center instructors for a field day covering avalanche rescue basics, snowpack layering, avalanche terrain identification, and basic backcountry travel. Please note- you need to have attended a Friends’ Introduction to Avalanches presentation prior to participating in the field day. The first presentation of this year is December 19th at the Community Library in Ketchum. There is a $50 suggested donation to the Friends of SAC to cover instructor costs. Donations can be made on www.sawtoothavalanche.com (click the donate button) or via Venmo @sawtooth-avalanche. On your donation, please note that this is in conjunction with a field day. Thank you! We use a pre-registration system for courses due to high demand.
