Preservation Hall Jazz Band
The ArgyrosPreservation Hall Jazz Band’s mission is to preserve the extraordinary music that evolved in New Orleans around the turn of the century and to bring that music to contemporary audiences. Individually, these musicians represent the industry’s elite, and collectively, they keep alive the traditions of this uniquely American sound. Known for their high energy, crowd-pleasing performances, Preservation Hall Jazz Band has been described by music critics as “the best jazz band in the land.” The Argyros is thrilled to partner with our friends from “Pres Hall” for a unique three night musical journey, the likes of which you’d be hard pressed to find in New Orleans, New York, or anywhere else. The band will play three entirely different shows, and each night the Tierney Theater will be transformed to match the feel of that show’s musical mood. Night one will be a traditional seated concert, featuring many of the beloved Big Easy jazz standards that have made Preservation Hall and the “N’awlins Sound” famous around the world. On night two, the Tierney Theater will be converted into a cabaret-style jazz nightclub, and the song selection will match that more intimate setting. Various LocationsSince 1958, the City of Ketchum has celebrated its mining history with one of the largest non-motorized parades in the west. Come spend the weekend with the whole family and watch the Big Hitch Parade on Saturday at 1 p.m, featuring quality buggies, carriages, carts and stagecoaches, is one of the largest non-motorized parades in the Pacific Northwest. Don't forget you can get an up-close view of the gigantic Lewis Ore Wagons on display through our the month of August at the Ore Wagon Museum. 2024 Schedule Friday, August 30th OreWagon Museum, 11:00 am - 6:00 pm Friday, Aug 30th to Sunday, Sep 1st Get an up-close look at the massive Lewis Ore Wagons. Come inside the museum to view historical items from Ketchum’s founding, mining history, and Wagon Days. Step outside for a tour of Ketchum’s oldest surviving building, the Bonning Cabin. The historical exhibit was developed in partnership with City of Ketchum, Blaine County Historical Museum, and The Community Library’s Regional History Department. The Big Hitch Parade
KetchumSince 1958, the City of Ketchum has been commemorating its mining heritage with an impressive non-motorized parade, which has grown to become the largest of its kind in the western region. It's a perfect opportunity to spend a delightful day with your entire family. The renowned Big Hitch Parade kicks off on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Big Hitch Parade showcases an array of exquisite buggies, carriages, carts, and stagecoaches, all exemplifying exceptional craftsmanship. Parade route: The procession commences at 1 p.m., embarking from Sun Valley Road and gracefully winding its way north on Main Street. The grand spectacle of the event, as it has always been, will be the awe-inspiring "Big Hitch." This special attraction features historic Lewis Ore Wagons, magnificently pulled by a remarkable 20-mule team all the way from Bishop, CA, skillfully maneuvering them through a jerkline formation.
