The Sun Valley Culinary Institute is pleased to offer tours open to the general public. Come see why we have become one of the most important and entertaining sites to visit in the Wood River Valley. As a full time location for both student culinary classes year round and personalized classes for the general public, SVCI is proud to open our doors and welcome visitors with coffee and donuts. Strap on some snowshoes and check out the Sawtooth National Recreation Area’s winter wonderland! Learn about the history of the Galena Lodge area and the magical landscape of winter ecology and animal tracking. January 5th – March 23 – Snowshoe with a Ranger every Thursday at 11 am. Meet on the porch of Galena Lodge. Program lasts about 2 hours and covers 1.5 miles with stops along the way. Rent snowshoes online ahead of time from Galena Lodge (see below). To register for the tour call SNRA at 208-727-5000. Each tour will be limited to 10 people. ​Dress warmly in layers and wear insulated boots, gloves, hat, sunglasses and mask.

Hailey Public Library will buzz into spring with a free talk about ‘The Amazing World of Native Bees’ with educator and forester Linda Ries on Thursday, March 23, 5:30-7:00 PM at Town Center West. The talk is co-sponsored with the Wood River Chapter of the Idaho Native Plant Society. Native bees are a primary pollinator for agricultural crops. However, these fascinating creatures are in decline all over the United States as a result of loss of habitat, toxins and disease. The good news is that there’s much we can do in our own backyards to help them out.  But first we need to learn more about the unique natural history and lifestyle of the species who live here.

Don’t miss the “Cold Bowl Pond Skim” on Dollar’s final day, Sunday, March 26th kicking off at 10am. Participants will try to make it across the pond on their skis or snowboard – in full costume! Wear your best Hawaiian or tropical-themed costume and come ready to enjoy BBQ, a family scavenger hunt, and lots of laughs! Pre-registration is required for pondskim participants. Register HERE Overflow parking for the weekend festivities will be available in the Pavilion Lot with shuttle access directly to Dollar Lodge. Please plan to take advantage of this shuttle as Dollar parking is very limited.

We are hosting our annual Galena Spring Loppet and Poker Run on Sunday March 26th at 10 am. It is a fun and free 25 km ski tour around the perimeter of the Galena nordic trails; note that costumes are highly encouraged! You may even be lucky enough to find beer and doughnuts stashed along the course. No registration necessary.

San Jose Taiko was founded in 1973 as only the third such group to form outside of Japan. They are recognized as pioneers in contemporary Taiko and have been instrumental to the growth of the art form, helping to nurture an ecosystem that now supports more than 500 groups spread throughout North America. San Jose Taiko teaches, performs, and expands the Taiko art form.

The Hailey Public Library is launching Neighborly Spanish, a free 6-week class taught on Mondays by retired local teacher Jim King.
