Suzanne Hazlett | Moving Heaven & Earth @ Friesen+Lantz Fine Art | Ketchum | Idaho | United States
12:00 am
Friesen+Lantz Fine Art presents a bold new body of work from encaustic artist Suzanne Hazlett. Encaustic painting is a technique dating back to the Greeks, blending fire with wax and pigment to fuse the material with a rigid surface. “I am a rock climber and a stargazer seeking a balance between celestial inspiration and earthly reality,” says Hazlett. “Incorporated in this collection are influences from stone, land formations, skyscapes, and atmosphere, as well as stars and nebulae.” “This is a rare body of work in an artist’s career—one that unequivocally marks a dramatic expansion in their craft and the beginning of an exciting chapter,” Friesen+Lantz Owner/Director Yanna Lantz says. “Hazlett is pushing the boundaries of encaustic in her inventive forms, incredible depth and combinations of colors that transport viewers to another realm.” For more information, please visit our website at www. friesenlantz.com

Parlor in the Round @ The Argyros | Ketchum | Idaho | United States
7:30 pm
Created in Alaska, and as unique as that state is, Parlor in the Round is an evening of storytelling and creativity from musicians including host Keven Worrell who forge songs on stage from audience suggestions. In the first half of the show, songwriters from Idaho and beyond will play their own songs and cover each other’s songs, then, after intermission, the musicians dive into collaborations, jocular inventions and premeditated musings all based on written submissions from the audience. Expect to lean in and laugh out loud at the Parlor.

Yesterday and Today @ The Argyros | Ketchum | Idaho | United States
7:00 pm
Yesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience is the nation’s most innovative and unique show utilizing the works of the Beatles. The band, anchored by brothers Billy, Matthew, and Ryan McGuigan perform as themselves and leave the song choices completely in the hands of the audience. Just prior to the show, audience members fill out a card with their name, their favorite Beatles song, and the reason why they chose that song. Two minutes before the show begins, a set list is created based upon the songs chosen by the audience. As an added treat, the reasons that the audience members chose those songs make up the narrative of the evening. Every show is different, every show is interactive, and every show proves that The Beatles music truly is the soundtrack to our lives.

Barcelona Flamenco Ballet @ The Argyros | Ketchum | Idaho | United States
7:30 pm
The Argyros welcomes back Barcelona Flamenco Ballet (BFB) and their production of New Time/Flamenco Reborn. In an all new show, BFB fuses three dance styles with which we are all familiar – jazz, contemporary, and, of course, flamenco – creating a tension so electric, the metallic tapping sounds of the dancers footwork endure in one’s ears, leaving us questioning: What does it mean to be ‘reborn’? One interpretation of ‘reborn’ is that of reconstruction. The dancers constantly reconstruct the ambiances they produce onstage, building up a rhythm with repetitive motions – and then break it, instantly stopping, rupturing the established order, then beginning again. In this way, the rhythm itself is ‘reborn’ – constantly renewing the dynamics of the performance, keeping it fresh and alive. Witness the drama of BFB, from the exuberant outpourings of passion to quiet moments of intimacy in this constantly changing display of reinvention.

5:00 pm
Join us along with Paul Martineau, Curator of Photographs at the J. Paul Getty Museum and Leslie Smolan, Executive Director of the Rodney Smith Estate, in celebrating the release of Rodney Smith: A Leap of Faith published by Getty Publications. Born in New York City, Rodney Smith (1947-2016) developed his extraordinary eye over the course of 4 decades. Starting his career as a photo-essayist he found his stride with portrait photography which led to his greatest art in fashion photography. His sophisticated compositions and stylish characters exist in a timeless world of grand, romantic scenes with quiet allure while also reflecting his innate playfulness with whimsical and surreal visual twists. “Taking photographs was my way of reconciling the mundane with the ideal, of reconciling my fears, and shifting from anxious loner to participant. It was with my camera that I began to find intimacy.” – Rodney Smith Pictured & On View in Galley: Don Jumping Over Hay Roll No. 1, Monkton, Maryland, 1999, acquired by the Getty in 2021
