JANUARY 26 – FEBRUARY 5 THE SPOT PRESENTS 12 TIME TONY-AWARD WINNING MUSICAL: CABARET Book by Joe Masteroff Music by John Kander Lyrics by Fred Ebb Based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood “OUTSIDE IT IS WINTER. BUT IN HERE IT IS SO HOT!” Directed by BRETT MOELLENBERG Music Directed by R.L. ROWSEY Choreography by JULIA BRAY CABARET will turn up the heat this winter, as The Spot transforms into the Kit Kat Klub. In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920’s draw to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary, Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken with English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. SUITABILITY: Recommended for audiences 14+ due to mature themes. RUN TIME: approx. 2.5 hours with intermission ...

Steve Jensen | Turning Tides @ Friesen+Lantz Fine Art | Ketchum | Idaho | United States
12:00 am
OPENING + 1ST ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION: 10 February 5-7PM GALLERY WALK: 17 February 5-7:30PM Steve Jensen’s work offers glimpses into our cultural past through found objects, recycled materials, and a deep desire to take what we discard today and make it sacred and beautiful for tomorrow. Descended from a long line of Norwegian fishermen, Jensen uses the same boat making tools of his forefathers when creating his work. His sculptures appear ageless, as if dredged from unknown depths instead of being made of recycled glass, metal and found objects. “I have been using recycled materials for over 35 years. I pick steel off the beach. I love finding salvaged boat materials, especially portholes and sailboat parts. It’s always exciting to figure out how to make something beautiful out of something that was discarded.” The message of Jensen’s boats is cross-cultural and reflects the influence of his extensive travels, including Egypt, Kenya, Tahiti, India, China, Thailand, Antarctica and Iceland. Those who view his work may recall their own ancestry, regardless of the origin of their family line. “For me the boats are meant to symbolize a voyage or journey, perhaps it is the voyage to the other side, or the journey into ...

Based in Seattle WA, Jensen’s work offers glimpses into our cultural past through found objects, recycled materials, and a deep desire to take what we discard today and make it sacred and beautiful for tomorrow. It’s always exciting to figure out how to make something beautiful out of something that was discarded.” Cultivating work that has a deeper meaning, whether by raising awareness of our environmental impact or celebrating the interconnectedness of the human condition, Friesen+Lantz vows to continue bringing insightful, personal, and powerful art to Sun Valley.
