The Papoose Club Annual Holiday Bazaar will be held on the first full weekend of December at the Hemingway Elementary School in Ketchum. The Holiday Bazaar is a juried arts show that features wonderful hand-made gifts from more than 70 artists from across the Intermountain West. ​Saturday, December 3, 2022: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2022: 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Santa on Sunday 1 – 2:30pm Wood River Valley’s top market for buying gifts for friends and family: sweets, ceramics, handblown glass, clothing, jewelry, handbags, birdhouses, decorative objects, textiles, and more. Join us on Saturday, December 10th for the Winter Wonderland Kick Off! Festivities include: Santa Shop & Stroll and Cookie Decorating – 12pm to 4pm Visit Santa for photos in the Boiler Room, as well as fun and festive cookie decorating! Individual cookies can be purchased for $12.50/each and children will be given a space in the Boiler Room to decorate. Carolers will be strolling, singing and bringing the holiday cheer!  Shop for a Cause at all Sun Valley Village Retail – All Day Shoppers at select stores in the Village including the Brass Ranch, Pete Lane’s, Signatures, and the Lodge Gift Shop can take care of everything on their holiday list while supporting local nonprofits in the community with the “Shop for a Cause” event. A percentage of all purchases will support the Environmental Resource Center, 43 North, and Girls on the Run in the Wood River Valley. Holiday Movie at the Opera House – Doors open at 4pm, Movie at 4:30pm Tickets can be purchased at the Opera House day of for $5, or in advance at the Rec Office.

A staged reading of the Randimals Children’s book and a preview of the second book. An audience sing along of the Randimals song. Randimal giveaways! Randimals book signing and gifts. And, if we are lucky, a visit from Santa! We hope to see you there. About Randimals: Randimals are combination animal toys and books with a timely message: ‘What makes us different, makes all the difference in the world’. A more recent addition to the Papoose Club community events, the Nordic Cup has been held in the Wood River Valley since 2006. Depending on snow conditions the event is held either in Quigley Canyon in Hailey or Sun Valley Nordic center. The cross-country event is open to youth aged 3-13 who may race in skate or classic disciplines. This free community event put on by Papoose Club volunteers in partnership with the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s Nordic ski program and the Blaine County Recreation District.

Started by the original founders back in 1957, this fun ski and snow board event is for non-sanctioned racers ages 3 to 12. It is held at Sun Valley’s Dollar Mountain in the spring, usually in March. The event attracts up to 250 skiers who all earn commemorative pins. The Olympic gold medal winner Picabo Street was a Kindercup champion! This summer we celebrate the 54th edition of the popular Sun Valley Arts & Crafts Festival. Join us in beautiful Atkinson Park just off Main Street in Ketchum as we welcome 132 professional artists and craftspeople from 27 different states to the Wood River Valley. This Festival is a juried, outdoor, fine arts show that includes world-class artwork in categories such as painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, woodwork, metalwork, jewelry and more. The rigorous jury process used to select artists ensures the residents and visitors to the Festival will see truly exceptional work in all different categories. This Festival also has food trucks, a picnic area, live music, and a kids’ activity area. It is completely free and open to the public. The iconic Trailing of the Sheep Festival celebrates the sheep, herders, history, and food, of this unique cultural tradition, with the event recognized as one of the “Top Ten Fall Festivals in the World” by msn.com. Each fall, the Trailing of the Sheep Festival honors the 150+ year annual tradition of moving sheep (‘trailing’) from high mountain summer pastures down through the Valley to traditional winter grazing and lambing areas in the south. This annual migration is living history and the focus of a unique and authentic Festival that celebrates the people, arts, cultures, and traditions of Idaho’s sheep ranching families, highlighting the principal contributors – the Basques, Scottish and Peruvians.
