Returning for its 12th year, SVFF kicks off another five days of Films, Coffee Talks, Parties and more. SVFF supports independent film and the magic of storytelling. It’s mission to celebrate and award filmmakers who are established and emerging has earned the Festival accolades by the film industry, film festival goers, film lovers, and filmmakers. The year-round Sun Valley Film Initiative develops professionals and illuminates the process of filmmaking, propelling emerging voices with grants and education. Since 2012 the Sun Valley Film Festival has invited fans and filmmakers to America’s first ski resort to celebrate the magic of storytelling. In the past, Festival guests include Hollywood legends such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Clint Eastwood, Jodie Foster, Geena Davis, and Oliver Stone as well as avant-garde writers and filmmakers like Stephen Gaghan and Mark and Jay Duplass. With over 4,000 yearly attendees, SVFF has become known as the Festival for Filmmakers. The Sun Valley Film Festival is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. The Sun Valley Wellness Festival (SVWF) has been at the forefront of the wellness movement for decades. Its pioneering wellness programs have positively impacted thousands of individuals in the local and global communities. 2023 will be the 26th year of the festival, which will take place over Memorial Day weekend, May 26-29, officially launching the summer event season in the Sun Valley area. Festival programs and activities will be held at the Argyros Performing Arts Center and the Limelight Hotel in Ketchum, Idaho. Building on its history of highlighting inspired thought leaders, the 2023 SVWF will feature dozens of pioneering presentations and workshops from leading wellness experts. The festival also will offer a free Experience Hall, which includes a variety of wellness vendors, as well as movement, and yoga classes, and unique guided outdoor wellness adventures such as holistic hiking and mountain meditations. The festival is produced by the non-profit Sun Valley Wellness Institute (SVWI), whose dedicated board and staff work tirelessly to create a world-class wellness event. Ketchum Arts Festival is an annual celebration of Idaho art in the shadow of Sun Valley’s Baldy Mountain. This summer we celebrate the 54th edition of the popular Sun Valley Arts & Crafts Festival. Join us in beautiful Atkinson Park just off Main Street in Ketchum as we welcome 132 professional artists and craftspeople from 27 different states to the Wood River Valley. This Festival is a juried, outdoor, fine arts show that includes world-class artwork in categories such as painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, woodwork, metalwork, jewelry and more. The rigorous jury process used to select artists ensures the residents and visitors to the Festival will see truly exceptional work in all different categories. This Festival also has food trucks, a picnic area, live music, and a kids’ activity area. It is completely free and open to the public. Sheep have been trailing through the Wood River Valley of Idaho for well over a century and are an integral part of Idaho’s heritage. The iconic Trailing of the Sheep Festival celebrates the sheep, herders, history, and food, of this unique cultural tradition, with the event recognized as one of the “Top Ten Fall Festivals in the World” by msn.com. Each fall, the Trailing of the Sheep Festival honors the 150+ year annual tradition of moving sheep (‘trailing’) from high mountain summer pastures down through the Valley to traditional winter grazing and lambing areas in the south. This annual migration is living history and the focus of a unique and authentic Festival that celebrates the people, arts, cultures, and traditions of Idaho’s sheep ranching families, highlighting the principal contributors – the Basques, Scottish and Peruvians.
