Womens' Fly Fishing Trip with Finatical Flyfishing @ Various Locations
12:00 am
There are a multitude of flyfishing options in the hiding spot of the rich and famous. This part of Idaho is beautiful all year long but the fall colors and warm days in September are extra special. The Wood River and Silver Creek are world renown fisheries right in the heart of the ‘Valley’. Other area options also include the Salmon River in the Sawtooth Mountain Range or into Copper Basin, home of the tributaries to the Lost River and the headwaters of the Lost River itself. We have partnered with a group of talented guides from Silver Creek Outfitters that includes Amanda Bauman, Julie Meissner and Jill Clark. We’ll rely on their knowledge of recent fishing to pair each day’s adventure with your skills and goals. The first two days are beautiful walk / wade trips. On Monday we will be floating the Salmon river near Stanely, Idaho which is absolutely spectacular in the fall! We’ve got some great condos in the heart of Ketchum. You can jump on the bike path or catch the free shuttle half a block away to enjoy the shops, bars and other evening attractions in Ketchum and Sun Valley.

Under The Jello Mold @ The Argyros | Ketchum | Idaho | United States
7:30 pm
Her mom hid her post-mortem instructions in a specific spot; it turned out, she was also hiding a secret! Under The Jello Mold is Jennie Fahn’s solo award-winning comedy – about love, loss, and being of sound mind and body – is a hilarious and moving story about the end of her mother’s life. There is something everyone can relate to in this rollicking, roller-coaster piece of theater that won Best Solo Show at the Hollywood Fringe Festival and was named ‘Best of Los Angeles Theatre 2017.’ Jennie is an acclaimed actor/writer you will recognize from TV including I’m Dying Up Here, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, The Middle, and many more.
12:00 am
Participants will meet at the Sun Peak Picnic Site at 9am to carpool to the Lost River, the Salmon River and the Sawtooth Valley. The day will start by driving fifty miles over Trail Creek summit to the Mackay Dam, a rather shocking vestige of low-budget agricultural dams from the early 20th century. The Mackay Dam was not damaged during the November 1983 earthquake on the Borah Peak fault. Next, the outing will travel 90 miles north to Challis and west along the Salmon River to Yankee Fork, where the sabotaged 1920’s Sunbeam Dam formerly blocked the Salmon River for hydroelectric power to gold dredges. Crossing the Idaho batholith to Stanley, participants will return to Ketchum via Galena Summit, where there is a wonderful view of the Sawtooth Mountains. Throughout the field trip, participants will learn about complex geology of central Idaho, mineral deposits, glacial features and the Cape Horn earthquake. Bring lunch, sturdy shoes, a jacket and sun hat.

"The Line Becomes a River" with Francisco Cantú @ The Community Library
6:00 pm
For Francisco Cantú, the border is in the blood: his mother, a park ranger and daughter of a Mexican immigrant, raised him in the scrublands of the Southwest. Driven to understand the hard realities of the landscape he loves, Cantú joins the Border Patrol. He and his partners learn to track other humans under blistering sun and through frigid nights. They haul in the dead and deliver to detention those they find alive. Plagued by a growing awareness of his complicity in a dehumanizing enterprise, he abandons the Patrol for civilian life. But when an immigrant friend travels to Mexico to visit his dying mother and does not return, Cantú discovers that the border has migrated with him, and now he must know the full extent of the violence it wreaks, on both sides of the line. Hemingway Writer-In-Resident Francisco Cantú joins us to discuss his book, “The Line Becomes A River: Dispatches From the Border,” which was named a Top 10 Book of 2018 by NPR and The Washington Post, was winner of the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in Current Interest, and a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Nonfiction Award. Cantú will be joined by several ...

Deep Listening Workshop with Karima Walker @ The Community Library
4:00 pm
Deep Listening is a meditative and musical compositional practice developed by the late contemporary composer Pauline Oliveros, utilizing listening, moving and dreaming to expand one’s awareness of the wider environment, as well as one’s own inner and bodily world. Deep Listening can be a helpful tool for just about anyone, but especially artists and creative folks who want to broaden their sensory and cognitive range in approaching their creative work. In this workshop we will be collectively sounding and listening, communicating and moving alongside each other and the environment around us. Come ready for gentle movement and with a yoga mat or blanket. No registration required. The group will meet on the Library Lawn on 4th Street, but will also spend time indoors in the Lecture Hall. (In case of inclement weather, meet in the Lecture Hall.) This event is sponsored in part by the Deep Listening® Institute. The workshop will be led by Karima Walker, Hemingway Writer-In-Residence and a musician and artist living in Tucson, Arizona.
