February 15th – March 31st, 2023 Black History Month. Come and see the painting “Knowledge Is Power” by Myriam Esther. The painting is inspired by Ruby Bridges, the first African American to attend a white school in the New Orlean school district. She had to be escorted in and out of school by police officers for her safety. Although Bridges is not the exact girl in this painting, she served as Esther’s inspiration for this work of art. Acrylic on canvas: 60 x 48 x 2.5 inches. Also on display are paintings from the “Love Collection”, the “Snow Collection” Inspired by the abundant Sun Valley Wildlife and the “Defiance Collection” that reflects the artist’s emotional reaction to stories and historical personalities around the world. The Sun Valley Culinary Institute (SVCI) is excited to announce the launch of its first Sun Valley Food & Wine Celebration from March 1 to 4, 2023. This inaugural event supports the school in raising funds to educate, create new career paths, and help sustain the Valley’s restaurant and hospitality community.

Curated events featuring five tellers who develop and shape their stories with The Moth directors. Moth stories are true, as remembered by the storyteller and always told live. Beyond theater, The Moth Mainstage is a community where entertainment and enlightenment merge.

Join the Friends of the Sawtooth Avalanche Center for a 1.5-hour presentation based on the Know Before You Go platform, introducing basic concepts about snow, avalanches, and traveling safely in and near avalanche terrain. Learn from the Friends of SAC instructor team of snow experts, mountain guides, and experienced avalanche educators. We invite everyone to join if you’re learning about avalanches for the first time or are a seasoned backcountry user ready for a yearly refresher. There is a $10 suggested donation, no preregistration required. You must attend the entire online talk to register for the optional field session. Optional field sessions ($40 suggested donation) will be held on March 5th.

Join the Friends of the Sawtooth Avalanche Center instructors for a field day covering avalanche rescue basics, snowpack layering, avalanche terrain identification, and basic backcountry travel. Please note-you need to have attended a Friends’ Introduction to Avalanches lecture prior to participating in the field day.
