    Returning for its 12th year, SVFF kicks off another five days of Films, Coffee Talks, Parties and more. 2023 Films 2023 Honorees 2023 Schedule BUY PASSES SVFF supports independent film and the magic of storytelling. It’s mission to celebrate and award filmmakers who are established and emerging has earned the Festival accolades by the film industry, film festival goers, film lovers, and filmmakers. The year-round Sun Valley Film Initiative develops professionals and illuminates the process of filmmaking, propelling emerging voices with grants and education. Since 2012 the Sun Valley Film Festival has invited fans and filmmakers to America’s first ski resort to celebrate the magic of storytelling. In the past, Festival guests include Hollywood legends such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Clint Eastwood, Jodie Foster, Geena Davis, and Oliver Stone as well as avant-garde writers and filmmakers like Stephen Gaghan and Mark and Jay Duplass. With over 4,000 yearly attendees, SVFF has become known as the Festival for Filmmakers. The Sun Valley Film Festival is a 501(c)(3) non-profit.     U.S Alpine Championships

    When: April 1, 2023 – April 5, 2023 all-day
    Where: Warm Springs Lodge, 201 Picabo St, Ketchum, ID 83340, USA

    Sun Valley Resort is excited to host the Toyota U.S. Alpine Championships presented by Stifel kicking off April 2 and welcoming elite and next-generation ski racers vying for spots on the Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team. The racing event, which runs April 2-5, is the final competition on the hotly contended US national ski racing circuit and is the culmination of a season-long showcase of the best of the best in US ski racing athleticism. Saturday starts the week of events with training opportunities for racers and a sponsor village and live apres music in Warm Springs Plaza. Sunday, April 2, the racing kicks off with men’s and women’s super-G followed by Clicquot in the Snow Party at Warm Springs and the Opening Ceremony at Town Square in Ketchum featuring a Parade of Athletes and a free concert by Lowdown Brass Band. Men’s and women’s slalom will run on Monday, April 3, women’s giant slalom on Tuesday, April 4, and men’s giant slalom on Wednesday, April 5; each day’s races will be followed by awards and live music in the Warm Springs Plaza.     Ballet Sun Valley presents the debut of world-renowned Dutch National Ballet (DNB) led by Artistic Director Ted Brandsen, July 1st and 2nd at 7 pm in the Sun Valley Pavilion. This is Dutch National Ballet’s first tour to the United States in 40 years and Sun Valley is the first stop! The tour continues with performances on the East Coast and at The Music Center at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. Over the past 60 years Dutch National Ballet evolved into a world renowned ballet company with the New York Times ranking the company in the top five in the world.     Ketchum Arts Festival is an annual celebration of Idaho art in the shadow of Sun Valley’s Baldy Mountain. Take a breather from your busy summer schedule and spend some time sampling great food and beer, and perusing the creative output of more than 100 Idaho artists. The kiddos will enjoy free activities in a special area while the folks can shop. Even Fido can visit with her friends (from the safety of a leash).     The 6th Annual Sun Valley Tour de Force on July 20-22, 2023 is a weekend of epic proportions for car lovers of all ages. Eight events take place over the course of three days. The signature event of the weekend is the ‘NO SPEED LIMIT’ high speed runs at Phantom Hill. Located in the heart of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, 3.2 miles of state highway becomes a no-speed limit zone. For one day only, drivers are allowed to put their machines to the ultimate test. In 2019, all previously recorded speed records were broken when a Bugatti Chiron hit 253.01mph. This is truly an experience of a lifetime. Additional weekend events include scenic drives, SVTdF Car Show at Festival Meadows, hosted sponsor events and our fundraiser; Cars & Comedy. With the stunning backdrop of Sun Valley, Idaho, this is a weekend not to be missed.   The SVTdF Car Show is a highly anticipated event with supercars, classics, and collectibles on display.     With five Pulitzer Prize winners, two National Book Award finalists, six “New York Times” bestsellers, and a former U.S. Poet Laureate, the 2023 Sun Valley Writers’ Conference (SVWC) will feature “the strongest literary list we’ve ever had,” according to SVWC Literary Director John Burnham Schwartz. Now celebrating its 29th year, SVWC 2023 will be held Saturday, July 22 through Monday, July 24 at the stunning Sun Valley Resort and Pavilion. For three days, some of the country’s—and the world’s—best writers and thinkers, including fiction and nonfiction writers, journalists, policymakers, and poets will descend upon the small town of Sun Valley, Idaho. This year, the all-star line-up will include Abraham Verghese, Tracy K. Smith, Ezra Klein, Anne Applebaum, Dave Barry, Ed Yong, Javier Zamora, Jennifer Homans, Curtis Sittenfeld, and many more!     Save the dates for summer 2023: July 30 – August 24. The Sun Valley Music Festival’s 39th Summer Season presents a star-studded lineup of guest artists for over three weeks of free concerts in the beautiful, natural surroundings of Sun Valley, Idaho. Pianists Yefim Bronfman and Orli Shaham, mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke, and violinist Augustin Hadelich will headline concerts featuring works by Schumann, Ravel, Mahler, and Tchaikovsky. Other programs include works by contemporary American composers including Mason Bates, Michael Abels, and Michael Tilson Thomas. For a very special Pops Night, Stéphane Denève, Music Director of the St. Louis Symphony, will lead the Festival Orchestra in an evening of the music of John Williams. Major orchestral repertoire will include Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 (the season finale) and Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring. The annual fundraising Gala Concert will take place on August 8 (details will be released in mid-February).     This summer we celebrate the 54th edition of the popular Sun Valley Arts & Crafts Festival. Join us in beautiful Atkinson Park just off Main Street in Ketchum as we welcome 132 professional artists and craftspeople from 27 different states to the Wood River Valley. This Festival is a juried, outdoor, fine arts show that includes world-class artwork in categories such as painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, woodwork, metalwork, jewelry and more. The rigorous jury process used to select artists ensures the residents and visitors to the Festival will see truly exceptional work in all different categories.     Sheep have been trailing through the Wood River Valley of Idaho for well over a century and are an integral part of Idaho’s heritage. The iconic Trailing of the Sheep Festival celebrates the sheep, herders, history, and food, of this unique cultural tradition, with the event recognized as one of the “Top Ten Fall Festivals in the World” by msn.com. Each fall, the Trailing of the Sheep Festival honors the 150+ year annual tradition of moving sheep (‘trailing’) from high mountain summer pastures down through the Valley to traditional winter grazing and lambing areas in the south. This annual migration is living history and the focus of a unique and authentic Festival that celebrates the people, arts, cultures, and traditions of Idaho’s sheep ranching families, highlighting the principal contributors – the Basques, Scottish and Peruvians.
