DESCRIPTION:Join internationally known artist Enrique Chagoya for a hands-o
 n\, bilingual printmaking workshop exploring his inventive approach to art\
 , culture\, and storytelling. Working in both English and Spanish\, Chagoya
  will introduce participants to printmaking techniques and encourage creati
 ve exploration and personal expression. No prior printmaking experience is 
 necessary and all supplies are included.\\n\\nPre-registration required.\\n
 \\nABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR\\n\\nEnrique Chagoya is a Mexican-American artist w
 hose paintings\, prints\, drawings\, and multiples examine the intersection
 s of history\, politics\, religion\, and popular culture. Drawing on influe
 nces ranging from Aztec codices and European colonial imagery to comic book
 s\, advertising\, and contemporary media\, Chagoya creates layered visual n
 arratives that challenge conventional understandings of cultural identity\,
  power\, and historical memory. His work often employs satire and humor to 
 critique colonialism\, globalization\, and the circulation of images across
  cultures. Chagoya has exhibited extensively in museums throughout the Unit
 ed States and internationally\, and his work is held in major public collec
 tions including the Museum of Modern Art\, the Whitney Museum of American A
 rt\, the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, and the Smithsonian American Art Muse
 um. Chagoya received an honorary Doctorate from the San Francisco Art Insti
 tute\, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Southern Graphics Council Inte
 rnational (SGCI) in 2019\, and a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2021. He is Emeri
 tus Professor at Stanford University’s Department of Art and Art History.
