SUMMARY:Cheatgrass: The Worst Weed in the West
DESCRIPTION:Cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum) poses a serious threat to ecologic
al function across the semi-arid West because it displaces native species\,
alters historic fire regimes\, and provides poor forage for much of the ye
ar. It now covers tens of thousands of acres in and around the Wood River V
alley. Cheatgrass grows early and then dries out\, creating continuous fine
fuels that increase wildfire frequency and severity. It also outcompetes n
ative grasses\, shrubs\, and flora that support mule deer\, pronghorn\, sag
 e-grouse\, songbirds\, pollinators\, and other wildlife. Additionally\, che
atgrass has barbed seeds that can injure pets and livestock.\\n\\nCome lear

ing to combat it at this panel discussion hosted by the Idaho Conservation
League and the National Forest Foundation. Panelists will include:\\n\\nBob
