DESCRIPTION:The Idaho Dark Sky Alliance (IDSA) invites the community to unp
 lug\, look up\, and discover the wonders of the night sky. IDSA’s fourth 
 annual Perseid-Palooza will offer two nights of meteor watching and stargaz
 ing on August 11 and 12.\\n\\nThe first night will be at the new Sawtooth O
 bservatory in Stanley on Tuesday\, August 11. The second night will be at t
 he Sawtooth Botanical Garden in Ketchum on Wednesday\, August 12. Both even
 ts will begin at 8:30 pm.\\n\\nLocal astronomers and night sky enthusiasts 
 will lead participants on a cosmic tour including the Perseid meteor shower
 \, deep sky objects\, and summer constellations. The event will include met
 eor watching and telescope observing\, plus kids’ astro-activities. IDSA 
 will also offer information about their efforts to reduce light pollution a
 nd preserve our breathtaking views of the night sky.\\n\\nThe peak nights f
 or the Perseids in 2026 are August 11-13. A new moon on August 12 will prov
 ide a dark sky\, making it easier to see even faint meteors. The best time 
 to spot meteors is from midnight to dawn. To enhance your viewing experienc
 e\, you might want to bring a comfy chair or blanket to stretch out on. And
  don’t forget to grab a coat to stay warm.\\n\\nPerseid-Palooza 2026 is c
 o-sponsored by the Idaho Dark Sky Alliance\, the Sawtooth Botanical Garden\
 , and Boise State University. The Sawtooth Observatory is located in Stanle
 y Pioneer Park on Airport Road in Stanley. The Garden is located at 11 Giml
 et Road\, off of Hwy 75 south of Ketchum.
