SUMMARY:Monoprint Workshop and Residency
DESCRIPTION:This unique 3-day workshop and residency offers participants a 
 chance to learn and create artwork with Master printmaker Dan Welden.\\n\\n
 Each morning\, Dan will guide participants through an exploration of monopr
 inting\, in combination with a variety of drawing techniques and the use of
  solarplates. Learn how to handle pigments with a variety of art media and 
 mark-making tools.\\n\\nAfter lunch\, participants will have the opportunit
 y to do their own work and work side-by-side with Dan. Use the time to expl
 ore and dive into more possibilities of the process. The Hailey classroom h
 as a beautiful Conrad press\, and the studio will be equipped with inks\, p
 aper\, and other art making materials and cleaning supplies.\\n\\n8x10" Sol
 arplates will be available to purchase from Dan at the workshop price for $
 20 each. Upon registration\, participants will be provided with a list of p
 ersonal supplies that they might want to bring with them.\\n\\nAge & abilit
 y: 18+\, printmaking experience required.\\n\\nThis is a 3-day workshop: Fr

 m 9am-4pm.\\n\\nAbout the Instructor\\nDan Welden is a leader in alternativ
 e printmaking and innovator of the "Solarplate.” Coauthor of Printmaking 
 in the Sun and director of Hampton Editions\, ltd.\, he has 55 years of col
 laborations with artists\, including Louisa Chase\, Elaine de Kooning\, Eri
 c Fischl\, Kiki Smith\, Dan Flavin\, David Salle and Kurt Vonnegut\, Jr\, a
 nd was dubbed “Master Printmaker” by Willem de Kooning in the 1980s. He
  worked\, taught\, and expanded his practice while teaching at Stony Brook\
 , Central Connecticut State and Long Island universities. Through the proce
 ss of polymer printmaking\, his studio continued with etching and relief pr
 inting. His recognition through residencies\, workshops\, lectures\, and 10
 5 solo exhibitions has elevated his role as both painter and printmaker\, w
 ith visits to all continents and 55 countries. Dan’s prolific work ethic 
 brought him awards of 'Professor Emeritus' from Escuela de Bellas Artes in 
 Cuzco\, Peru\; a recent Pollock/Krasner Award Grant and an A/E Lifetime Ach
 ievement Award. He is represented by the Alex Ferrone Gallery in Cutchogue\
 , New York and the Mitchell-Giddings Fine Art Gallery in Brattleboro\, Verm
 ont.
