SUMMARY:Gallery Walk at GIlman Contemporary- Felipe Jácome- Unbroken
DESCRIPTION:Ecuadorian photographer Felipe Jácome has his first solo exhib
ition at Gilman Contemporary featuring work from the series The Unbroken Pr
oject. Created in collaboration with Ukrainian dancer and photographer Svit
lana Onipko\, the series reflects on how art endures amid war. Each photogr
aph captures current and former members of the Ukrainian National Ballet mi
d-dance\, revealing the grace\, power\, and vulnerability of their movement
. These fleeting gestures\, shaped by collective memory\, emerge as acts of
quiet defiance.\\nPrinted in black onto bullet casings\, the dancers’ si
lhouettes transform objects of violence and brutality into vessels of meani
ng. The work embodies a tension between delicacy and destruction\, with eac
h piece carrying physical and symbolic weight that underscores art’s capa
city for resistance and transformation in the face of war. A portion of the
proceeds from every sale will be donated to Ukrainian relief.
