DESCRIPTION:Why do local governments exist? What is their responsibility to
  citizens? What are the different forms they take\, where does their fundin
 g come from\, and where does it go?\\n\\nJoin The Community Library for a c
 ivics-focused evening with Dr. Stephanie Witt\, who will present a brief hi
 story of local governments (with a focus on Idaho)\, discuss the role of co
 uncils and the differences between the “strong mayor” and “city manag
 er” styles of government\, and take your questions.\\n\\nRegistration is 
 recommended to join us in person. The program will also be livestreamed\, a
 nd a recording will be available on the Library's Event Archive.\\n\\nDr. S
 tephanie Witt is Director of Training for the School of Public Service at B
 oise State University. She is also a Professor in the Master of Public Admi
 nistration and Political Science programs. Her research interests include i
 ntergovernmental relations and human resource management\, and she writes a
 bout Idaho\, city\, and county governments in the West\, human resource man
 agement\, and public administration. She is the former Editor of the Social
  Science Journal\, and has served as Department Chair\, Associate Dean\, an
 d the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at BSU.
