Because\, while down on the stage these finely-crafted mari onettes perform plays\, fairy-tales\, musicals and operas\, it's the skille d puppeteers two metres above them who guide all their movements with a spe cial technique\, each on 12 strings. The puppeteers\, who have mastered thi s unique method\, bring the marionettes to miraculous life.\\n\\nThis speci al performance technique has been declared a cultural asset worthy of prese rvation\, as the "most highly developed form of puppet and figure theatre"\ , earning the Salzburg Marionette Theatre a place in the UNESCO List of Int angible Cultural Heritage.\\n\\nPerformance –\\n\\nMaria\, a postulant at Nunberg Abbey is too free-spirited to accept discipline of the order. Easi ly and frequently escapes to the mountains. So\, the Mother Abbess arranged for Maria to work as a governess for the wealthy aristocratic navy captain Geroge Von Trapp\, a widower with seven children.
