SUMMARY:Wendy Pesky Educator Summit
DESCRIPTION:Connect with peers\, explore the transformative power of arts i
 ntegration\, and inspire student success through creativity and self-expres
 sion. Teachers across all grade levels and disciplines in southern Idaho ar
 e invited for two days of conversation and learning with art scholars and c
 olleagues.\\n\\nThe summit will feature presentations from experts in the f
 ield\, hands-on workshops\, and ready-to-use lesson plans\, offering practi
 cal tools for immediate implementation.\\n\\nBuilding on SVMoA’s history 
 of supporting arts education\, this summit will explore research-backed str
 ategies for connecting visual art to subjects like math\, science\, social 
 studies\, and language arts. Sessions will focus on fostering critical thin
 king\, creative problem-solving\, and social-emotional learning\, emphasizi
 ng the benefits of arts engagement highlighted by the National Endowment fo
 r the Arts (NEA). Research shows that intensive arts experiences improve gr
 ades\, test scores\, graduation rates\, and civic engagement\, especially f
 or at-risk youth.\\n\\nThe Summit is named in memory of Wendy Pesky\, a bel
 oved longtime Sun Valley Museum of Art board member and tireless champion f
 or arts and education. Together with her husband\, Alan\, Wendy founded the
  Lee Pesky Learning Center\, which helps students overcome learning disabil
 ities. Wendy and Alan also established SVMoA’s Wendy & Alan Pesky Educato
 r Scholarship\, which supports professional development in the arts\, and w
 ere instrumental in shaping SVMoA’s in-classroom arts integration program
 . The Pesky Family’s support for the Summit reflects their commitment to 
 inspiring educators and students through the arts.
